3/4/26 A quick stop in Yullee, FL to catch the American Wigeon being reported in a pond there (new bird for our county):
2/27/2026 Orlando, FL: Before visiting a family member in the hospital, we made an early stop at Apopka Wildlife Drive, Apopka, FL. A rather gray morning yielded rather gray images of Gray-headed Swamphen , Purple Gallinulle , Anhinga, Black-bellied Whistling Duck , and Ring-necked Duck , and a Sora and Glossy Ibis . It WAS rather gray, but fun!
2/13/2026 Belle Glade, FL : Common Yellowthroat (m), Osprey , Red-shouldered Hawk with nest material , and a lovely visit with a friendly female Painted Bunting feeding on flowers. So pretty!
2/12 and 2/13/2026 Belle Glade, FL : Another Osprey with a fish flew RIGHT overhead; the Red-shouldered Hawk with more nest material, a Tropical Kingbird , and a Turkey Vulture giving a great view! Also, American Kestrel , Boat-tailed Grackle , Great Blue Heron , and Northern Rough-winged Swallows hanging on the wire.
2/12 and 2/13/2026 Belle Glade, FL : And a sweet encounter with a number of male Indigo Bunting individuals (in molt) feeding on the seed sprays.
