3/4/2022 As dawn was breaking, we started at Merritt Island NWR and then headed to Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve SP to try to catch some Florida Scrub Jays. 3/5/2022 We spent a pleasant morning at Circle B Bar Reserve, FL .
3/5/2022 Circle B Bar Reserve, FL: A Barred Owl preening in the forest was a treat. Meanwhile an Osprey was eating his fill out by the lake and Red-shouldered Hawk individuals were nesting nearby.
3/5/2022 Circle Bar B Reserve , FL: Anhinga , Blue-gray Gnatcatcher , Common Gallinule , Double-crested Cormorant , and Great Blue Heron . Also: A Pine Warbler with a Palm Warbler flock was feeding in the hanging tree moss while a Turkey Vulture was drying its wings in the spring sun.
3/4/22 Catfish Creek Preserve SP, FL: We did find some Florida Scrub Jay individuals! The afternoon light was a bit harsh but we had a great time.
3/4/2022 Merritt Island NWR: The morning was spent catching: Great Blue Heron , Lesser Yellowlegs , Northern Shoveler , Green Heron , Common Yellowthroat , Double-crested Cormorant , Anhinga , Loggerhead Shrike , Blue-winged Teal , Red-winged Blackbird , White Pelican , Wilson’s Snipe , and Sora . We saw about 60 species on a sparkling day.
