GOING BACK IN TIME….
3/9 to 3/11/2024 We had an awesome trip to Nevada! Visiting family for a few days, we used the early mornings to go birding.
3/11/2024 Walking Box Ranch, Lake Mead Reservoir, near LV, NV: Redhead (f,m) , Sage Thrasher , Black-throated Sparrow , and a Red-tailed Hawk in the morning sun.
3/10/2024 Desert NWR, Corn Creek, LV, NV: A small oasis that used to be an awesome place to wander is still a spot that draws birds, though they have added a lot of concrete in recent years. Although the White-crowned Sparrow flock is common there, the flowering tree they were nibbling on won’t be blooming for long. SOOO pretty! Also: Ruby-crowned Kinglet , a rare Rufous-backed Robin that was being reported , Dark-eyed Junco , and a brief look at a male Phainopepla . (Not a great pic but still of interest.)
3/9/2024 Henderson, Las Vegas, NV: Early morning birding gave us Anna’s Hummingbird (m), Redhead (m), Vermilion Flycatcher (juv. m), Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon), Canada Goose, and Bufflehead (m).
3/9/2024 Henderson, Las Vegas, NV: On that beautiful brilliant morning, we also caught Blue-winged Teal (m), Cinnamon Teal (m,f), Common Gallinule, Common Goldeneye (f), Eared Grebe , Black Phoebe , Greater Roadrunner , Green-winged Teal (m), Mallard (m), Northern Shoveler (m,f, group feed), Red-winged Blackbird (f), Orange-crowned Warbler , White-crowned Sparrow (juv.), and Ruddy Duck (m).
