4/27 to 5/1/26 We headed down to camp on Dry Tortugas, FL via Merritt Island NWR, Miami, and Key West. The birding was amazing! We caught mostly warblers, but the trip was also highlighted by a very fine Spot-breasted Oriole, a Caribbean race Osprey, and a small Roseate Tern flock amidst the 80,000 Sooty Terns on Bush Key!

5/1/26 Our last day on Dry Tortugas, FL : the rare Black Noddy (left in the pic), Black-throated Blue Warbler (m) , Northern Yellow Warbler , Cape May Warbler (m,f), Hooded Warbler (m) .
4/30/26 and 5/1/26 Dry Tortugas, FL: A few birds we don’t get to see often: Magnolia Warbler (m) study, Roseate Tern study (more on 4/29/26 below), and Magnificent Frigatebird study. Bush Key is usually closed off to everyone (it should have been with all the Sooty Tern chicks at the shore!) but this time the rangers were allowing people to walk the beach to reach the Magnificent Frigatebird roost.
4/30/26 and 5/1/26 Dry Tortugas, FL: American Redstart (m, juvm), Black-and-white Warbler (f), Common Yellowthroat (f,m), Northern Parula , Palm Warbler , Red-eyed Vireo , Common Nighthawk , Gray-cheeked Thrush , Great Crested Flycatcher , and, if interested, one can barely make out the distant Masked Boobies on Hospital Key as the ferry zips by it.
4/30/26 and 5/1/26 Dry Tortugas, FL: Also, Nashville Warbler and Prairie Warbler .
4/30/26 Dry Tortugas, FL: Sooty Tern (with chicks), Brown Noddy , Western Cattle Egret , Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (juv), Veery , and Common Yellowthroat (m).
4/30/26/ Dry Tortugas, FL: Cape May Warbler (mostly m,f), Hooded Warbler (m), Northern Parula , Ovenbird , Palm Warbler , Prairie Warbler , Rose-breasted Grosbeak (f) , and Red-eyed Vireo .
4/30/26 Dry Tortugas, FL: American Redstart (m) , Blackpoll Warbler , Black-throated Blue Warbler (m), Brown Booby , and Lincoln’s Sparrow .
4/29/26 Dry Tortugas, FL: Black-throated Blue Warbler (m), Hooded Warbler (m), Northern Parula bathing , Black-whiskered Vireo , Gray Kingbird , Ovenbird , Cape May Warbler (m,f), and a wet Prairie Warbler .
4/29/26 Dry Tortugas, FL : Roseate Tern , American Redstart , Barn Swallow , Brown Pelican , Magnificent Frigatebird , distant Red-footed Booby in MAFR colony , Sooty Tern with young.
4/29/26 Dry Tortugas, FL: Bridled Tern , White-winged Dove , and Indigo Bunting (f).
4/28/26 Took the Ferry to Dry Tortugas, FL: Antillean Nighthawk , Black-whiskered Vireo , Cape May Warbler (f), Common Nighthawk , Osprey (Caribbean race) , American Kestrel , Indigo Bunting , Northern Parula , Ovenbird , Palm Warbler , Prairie Warbler , and Western Cattle Egret .
4/27/26 Brief stop around Homestead, FL to try for a Spot-breasted Oriole: What a beauty! Also, Loggerhead Shrike and Eastern Meadowlark .
4/27/26 Brief stop at Merritt Is. NWR, FL: Mostly quiet. Reddish Egret , Black-crowned Night-Heron , Boat-tailed Grackle , Tricolored Heron , and White Ibis .
