8/19 From Minca to El Dorado, Colombia: Angel Ortiz, our exceptional guide, kept us hopping with all the sightings of new birds. As well as being a very talented birder, he knew all the specific areas to stop. We were thankful for the 4×4 ride to El Dorado – an exceptional spot where we got to stay 3 days trying to catch Santa Marta specialties!

A – F : Band-tailed Guan , Bay-headed Tanager , Black-backed Antshrike , Black-chested Jay , Black Hawk-Eagle , Black-headed Tanager , Blue-naped Chlorophonia , Chestnut-capped Warbler , Cinereous Becard , Coppery Emerald , Forest Elaenia .
G – R : Golden-faced Tyrannulet , Golden-winged Sparrow , Great Black Hawk (with BLVU and ROHA), Keel-billed Toucan , Lesser Violetear , Long-billed Gnatwren (brief sighting), Pale-breasted Thrush , Pale-eyed Pygmy-Tyrant , Plain Xenops , Rufous-breasted Wren , Rufous-tailed Hummingbird .
S – S : Santa Marta Antbird , Santa Marta Blossomcrown (we got to again later!), Santa Marta Brushfinch , Santa Marta Woodstar , Scaled Piculet , Sierra Nevada Brushfinch (brief look), Streak-capped Spinetail .
T – Z : White-bearded Manakin , White-collared Swift , White-lored Warbler , White-tailed Starfrontlet , White-tipped Quetzal (f) (saw again later).
