3/25/22 We headed to St. Augustine Rookery to see what was happening there: Almost all the birds were in their spring finery but there are some 1yrs wandering about, learning the ropes. Sticks are still being brought in and it is just fun to watch the nesting show. First: Roseate Spoonbill and Wood Stork individuals.
3/25/22 St. Augustine Rookery: Anhinga (f, m breeding plumage) , Black-crowned Night Heron , Cattle Egret , Snowy Egret , White Ibis (juv and ad.), and Tricolored Heron .
3/25/22 St. Augustine Rookery: And finally, the very showy Great Egret.
3/13/22 Amelia Island, FL: It was a lovely morning to be outside. Probably the prettiest fellow was a Brown-headed Cowbird and his mate, up to no good we were quite sure. Also in their Springtime best, were an Eastern Bluebird and House Finch pair. Also: Mourning Dove , Northern Mockingbird , Palm Warbler , and Yellow-rumped Warbler . Also, on 3/24/22: in a drenching rain, we caught a Great Horned Owl who looked as sodden as we surely did!
